Back, we go…back

So much time has passed us by, but then again

I still wonder why, I think so much about you

We’ve been friends, since that summer school summer, that would

never end. don’t you remember, how you made, fun of my hair?

There’s still something you should know about me,

It’s the same thing, I know about you

We’ve been branded like two lucky cows, these are the stripes my friend,

We’re gonna share forever, we go

Back to the sounds of our youth, when we had all, a shiny strat and an 59’ Paul, Just, two kids living in rock star heaven, jumping off speakers, we were crushing it together  (we go back…)

You got the girl, I got the kids, she’s got my money, you told me so

Yeah, I never listen, this is the now, and we’ve been put the test,

There aint’ rest for the weary, its all work and no play,

The one that maybe got away, that aint me, that aint you I got no regrets

It’s been one, crazy, hell, of a life, that, you and I, we’ve been living through

CHORUS

Back to the sounds of our youth, when we had all, just

Two kids living in rock star heaven, (heaven, heaven)

CHORUS (2x)  (we go back)

Do you ever pinch yourself and say WTF, where did all the time go since high school! Your mind starts rolling back to “those days”. If you are like me, you start thinking of memories with friends, like a movie that you could play over and over and its the same.

My best memories were with friends discovering music, guitars and sharing the journey of hearing a Jimi Hendrix riff. With your buddy in the room, shiny new guitars in hand, we tried to mimic those amazing sounds everybody was hearing. Dropping the needle over and over, until we thought we had it, we would show the other, hey look “I think it goes like this”? With each success we would find yet another song and sound to decode. We felt stronger with each and every lick we added to our jams.  Slowly we built a bond that time could never wash away.

“We Go Back” is a story of friendship that was forged in our early years and is as fresh and valued today as it ever was. Sharing time, adventure, possibilities with someone else, is a treasure. As for the listener I hope this track gives you a reason to call up your friend and remember what you have together.

The video captures the fun we had reliving the story of our friendship – thanks Kurt Bittner for the Texas hospitality and for always playing guitars with me along the way, can’t wait to jam again!
